As we wander the Joshua Tree Desert we often find really cool things, over the years we have collected 100s of these glass insulators in green and clear. We have some that are perfect and some far from it.
This listing is for a very old original Hemingray No 40 glass insulator, it has gorgeous swirls and even a small chunk black carbon or algae in the middle of the glass. Some large bubbles as well. It is worn and dinged but is not chipped or cracked. It is in great shape despite the fact that it put in work on a telephone in the Mohave Desert for 100 or so years. All the dings, bubbles, carbon and external swirls make for a gorgeous piece especially in natural sunlight.
The Hemingray No.40 is a popular style, and was mass produced in aqua and green colors. In c.1910, an experiment with AT&T to produce a new standard insulator resulted in this design being selected. It was produced in mass quantities until 1921, when the Hemingray No.40 was replaced by the popular Hemingray - 42
You will receive the exact insulator pictured. We have many all listed separately due to chips and variations.
If you are doing a DIY project and would like us to drill a 1/2 hole through the top for you please add that under variations.
We have lots of options this is for 1 insulator.
Local pickup can be arranged in Joshua Tree Ca.
